Diseases that develop slowly last
a long time and are relatively difficult to treat are chronic diseases. Chronic
diseases are illnesses that have prolonged effects and cannot be prevented by
vaccines or cured by medication. They include diabetes, arthritis,
asthma, cancer, and some viral diseases such as hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS.
