Flowering plants are capable of fertilization in the absence of water because the pollen tubes deliver the sperm to the eggs. The male gametes are contained in the pollen grains, which are carried by wind,water or animals to reach the female gametes. the pollen is deposited on the plant's stigma which is part of the pistil, a process called pollination, which is preceded by fertilization.
