William Blake takes the worm for sex He criticises the moral idea attached to love in our culture. That is what makes the worm  invisible and secretive. The rose represents pure love , so when the worm gets into the rose's bed at night, it destroys her. In fact, the worm has sex with the rose. This means that love is love as long as  it is chaste; if love is associated with sex, love is killed.
