If you are talking about the Korean War, it was because of Communism. The North Koreans were trying to physical force communism onto South Korea, and because America HATES communism, they sent troops over to South Korea to help them fight the war. However the Soviets were communist and wanted communism, so they sent troops to help North Korea.
