I believe the answer is: Verified or Falsified
The purpose of using scientific method when evaluating theory is to ensure that the theory represent the closest thing to the truth.
In order to achieve this, verification from other experts in similar field and efforts from others to prove that the theory is right or wrong would be extremely needed.
