If you are going 219 miles and you get 12 miles to 1 gallon of gas, then you need 219/12 gallons of gas.  219/12 = 18.25   You need 18.25 gallons of gas to go 219 miles.  At $2.90 per gallon, it will cost you 18.25 * 2.90 = $53.93
