slope-form equation:
[tex]y = mx + c[/tex]
we have slope,
[tex]m = \frac{1}{2} [/tex]
and point, x=2 and y= -4

Insert all of these into slope-form equation to find y-intercept, c
[tex] - 4 = \frac{1}{2} (2) + c \\ - 4 = 1 + c \\ c = - 4 - 1 \\ c = - 5[/tex]

thus, the equation is
[tex]y = \frac{1}{2} x - 5[/tex]
