Either a path to Asia to trade or Gold, God, and Glory.
Both of these are technically the correct answer since the reason the Age of Exploration began is because they wanted to find a new route to Asia (Considering the Earth is of course a sphere and not flat as some believe it's flat at this time possibly). Then, during the Age of Exploration, they continued to follow the three G's - Gold, God, and Glory.
