So firstly, we have to find the LCM, or lowest common multiple, between the two denominators. In this case, the LCM of 6 and 12 is 12. Multiply 5/6 by 2/2 and 1/12 by 1/1.

[tex] \frac{5}{6} *\frac{2}{2}= \frac{10}{12} \\ \\ \frac{1}{12} *\frac{1}{1} =\frac{1}{12} [/tex]

Next, add the two fractions together:

[tex] \frac{10}{12}+ \frac{1}{12} =\frac{11}{12} [/tex]

In short, your answer is 11/12.
