it was only  in m  view iinnaeus     who  expanded the  horizons of science  built on  aristotle and ray way in the rankings since ,

Aristotle classified organisms based on where they lived...land, water, or air. Linnaeus classified based on structural similarities. This allowed for a more definitive way of classifying than where the organism lived.
