In common sense, Thomas Pain says "Precariousness of human affairs," "While we have it in our power," and "time and chance" in response tot he argument that the colonies will continue to flourish under British rule. He says this to emphasize the conflict support for American independence and that the harmony between Britain and America is not possible.
