Think of what a chef does. A chef cooks. To make a type of food, the chef must:
1) have the right ingredients
2) follow the instructions.
For example, one does not put the pan into the oven without pouring the mixture into the pan first (for it'll defeat the purpose). Nor will one season uncook food (unless it is asked for, generally you will season food afterwards).
