The slope of the line is -7/4.

The formula for slope is:

[tex]\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}[/tex]

lets say (1,9) 1 is x1 and 9 is y1

             (-3,16) -3 is x2 and 16 is y2

[tex]\frac{16-9}{-3-1}[/tex]

which equal

[tex]-\frac{7}{4}[/tex]
