Write an equation in point slope form when the slope is 1/3 and it passes through the point (3, -1)

Point slope form is [tex]y-y1=m(x-x1)[/tex]. So what you would is put 1/3 as m.

y-y1=1/3(x-x1)

Then put in the point (3,-1) in the equation. 3 is the x and -1 is the y

So the point slope form is:

y+1=1/3(x-3)

If that is all that you needed then cool. If you need to then graph it then you can read the things down below.

To get it to the point where it is graphable, distibute the slope (1/3). Then subtract 1 from both sides. And that is how you get an equation graphable.
