The answer is ( 9 , 1 )

Use the substitution method.

Solve the first equation for x by subtracting 2y from both sides. x = 11-2y

Plug x = 11- 2y into the second equation to solve for y.
4 (11 -2y) + 2y = 38
44 - 8y + 2y = 38
44 - 6y = 38
-6y = -6
y = 1

Once you get a y value plug it into the first equation to solve for x.
x + 2 (1) = 11
x + 2 = 11
x = 9
