[tex]-4 + \frac{3}{2} = -2\frac{1}{2}[/tex]

Subtract [tex]\frac{3}{2}[/tex] on both sides

[tex]-4 = -2\frac{1}{2}- \frac{3}{2}[/tex]

[tex]-4 = -2\frac{1}{2} -1\frac{1}{2}[/tex]

-4 = -4
