Ivan had saved some quarters. He spent 50 quarters, which was 2/5 of the quarters he started with. How many quarters did he start out with?

since 50 was 2/5 of the total, 25 must be 1/5. multiply 25*5 to get the total of 125 quarters ($31.25 in case you were wondering)
