Paula has 12 more beads than John has. Together they have 84 beads. How many beads does Paula have?

First, you would subtract 12 from 84 beads(total beads in all). 84-12=72.
Then, you would divide by 2 since there is 2 people. 72÷2=36.
John has 36 beads, but then you would add 12 again to find out what Paula has. 36+12=48. 
Answer: Paula has 48 beads.
