Newton's First Law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. Basically a object won't move (remain in rest) or will keep moving in a straight line unless acted on by a outside or force. For example if i had a water bottle on top of my desk the water bottle won't till i touch it or wind knocks it over.

-hope this helps :D
