The easiest way is to isolate (bring) the x’s on the same side and the number on the other side.

So first, we want to eliminate the x on the right hand side of the equal sign.

To get rid of that x , you must add a -x to both sides. 2x + (-x) -1= x + -(x) +11

This leaves you with x -1=11

We now want to isolate the x, we do this by adding 1 to both sides

X-1+1=11+1

X=12

Hope this helps
