For this case we propose a rule of three:

£ 899 ----------------> 100%

x ----------------------> 20%

Where "x" represents the amount of money corresponding to the VAT.

[tex]x = \frac {20 * 899} {100}\\x = 179.8[/tex]

So, the VAT is £ 179.8

ANswer:

The purchse price of VAT is £ 179.8
