To find perimeter, you ADD the length of all the sides twice.
To get the area, you MULTIPLY the length of all the sides.
Example of perimeter: If a rectangle has the side lengths 7 and 4, what is the perimeter?

P = 7 + 7 + 4 + 4
P = 14 + 8
P = 22
Example of area: If a parallelogram has the side lengths 9 and 5, what is the area?
A = bh
A = 9 x 5
A = 45
