Populations have different variants that show different survival when faced with changing in the environment. Some animals are the least specialized. They can survive in a wide range of different environmental factors, unlike specialized animals which are very sensitive to changes. If the environment changes suddenly and drastically, the least specialized animals could adapt to different conditions and probably change over time.
