Epiphyseal plate is the structure that allows the diaphysis of the bone to increase in it’s length. After birth the they become the center of development for the bone to grow by ossification.

Ossification is a process where the bone increases in length. In the layer of hyaline cartilage, the epiphyseal plate the osseous tissue is grown. This helps the increase in the length of the bone. Usually growth is concentrated at the end of the bones .
