Many immigrants settle in ethnic neighborhoods because they feel safer in the middle of people of their same culture, language and religion. It is a sort of social soft landing for people from distant countries. It´s a way to keep a link with their motherland. There are people who never leave these places, a fact that makes more difficult their assimilation in the USA mainstream culture.
