It's two separate questions, one for each car.  Use F=mA to solve both of them.

a). the 1,000 kg car

A = F/m

A = 1000N / 1000kg

A = 1 m/s²

b). the 2,000 kg car

A = F/m

A = 1000N / 2000kg

A = 1/2 m/s²
