Both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth talk about literally washing their hands because of the
blood on them. Why do they keep talking about the blood on their hands? What is the
symbolism of that desire to clean their hands?

They feel the need to clean themselves of the crimes they have committed, and they emphasise this in the original script because it is a metaphor for admitting that they know it was wrong of them to kill, but they did it anyway and as much as they want to clean themselves of this act they did enjoy it in a way.
