The degree of a function highest exponent of the dependent variable, then we first isolate "y":

[tex]22x-14y=65 \\ 22x-65=14y \\ y= \frac{22}{14}x- \frac{65}{14} \\ \\ y= \frac{11}{7}x- \frac{65}{14}[/tex]

In this case the highest exponent is 1. Functions whose highest exponent is 1, are called LINEAR FUNCTIONS OR LINEAR AQUATIONS
