WHAT: parallel structure is a rhetorical device ( rhetorical devices use words in a certain way to convey meaning or to persuade the reader ) in which similar words, phrases, or clauses are used to emphasize ideas.

HOW: parallel structure will often help the reader have an easier time ( words have better flow to them )  reading what the author has written, and it will overall help the reader have a better grasp on what the text means.
