some like foil because they can't remember the order to multiply, I will teach that
FOIL
tells order to multiply
First terms
Outside terms
Inside terms
Last terms
(3x+2)(x+2)
First:3x times x=3x^2
Outside: 3x times 2=6x
Inside: 2 times x=2x
Last: 2 times 2=4
add them
3x^2+6x+2x+4
3x^2+8x+4
