Answer: The Crusades failed in their chief goal -the conquest of the Holy Land.

Explanation: They also left a bitter legacy of religious hatred behind them. They did have positive effects though by increasing trade and travel, encouraged the growth of a money economy, helped to increase the power of feudal monarchs and enthusiasm brought papal power to its greatest heights.
