in 58, the place value of 5 is 5 × 10 = 50 and place value of 8 is 8 × 1= 8; the face value of 5 is 5 and of 8 is 8.

for 8 it is in the ones place so, 8 *1=8 and for 5 it is in the 10'ths place so 5*10=50.
