          y = -x + 5
5x + 2y = 14

     5x + 2(-x + 5) = 14
5x + 2(-x) + 2(5) = 14
       5x - 2x + 10 = 14
              3x + 10 = 14
                    - 10  - 10
                      3x = 4
                       3     3
                        x = 1¹/₃
      y = -x + 5
      y = -1¹/₃ + 5
      y = 3²/₃
(x, y) = (-1¹/₂, 3²/₃)
