y is equal to two because you multiply 8 and 2 and you get 16 & you just add one and its 17

8y+1=17
Step 1: Subtract 1 from both sides.
8y+1−1=17−1
8y=16
Step 2: Divide both sides by 8.
(8y)/8=16/8
y=2
Answer: y = 2
