10 = 10^1

The exponent 1 is positive. The positive exponent means we move the decimal point to the right. Specifically we move to the right 1 spot.

2.3 turns into 23 after multiplying by 10^1

[tex]2.3 \times 10 = 23\\\\2.3 \times 10^1 = 23[/tex]
