Add 13 to both sides so
-6k - 13 + 13 = 83 + 13
-13 and +13 cancel out, -6k is left on the left side of the equal sign
83 + 13 = 96 (on the right of the equal sign, so)
-6k = 96
Divide -6 to both sides
[tex] \frac{-6k}{-6} = \frac{96}{6} [/tex]
-6 cancel on the left, leaving you with k on the left
96 divided by 6 is 16
