"Seven eighths of a number is 63." I need to show my work, but I don't know how to do this. PLZ help!

Answer:

seven eights of a number = 7/8 × a number

let the unknown number be = x

[tex] \frac{7}{8} \times x = 63[/tex]

[tex]x = 63 \div ( \frac{7}{8} )[/tex]

[tex]x = 63 \times \frac{8}{7} [/tex]

[tex]x = \frac{504}{7} [/tex]

[tex]x = 72[/tex]
