The plasma membrane is the boundary between a cell and its environment. The plasma membrane controls what enters in and out of a cell (in summary)

- protection
-helps the cell bind to other cells
- carries a identity marker that prevents the white bkood cells from destroying the bodies own cells.

Hope this helps!
