Why can’t your computer just use the hard drive to store all the information?

Because then it would be overloaded, and cause a permanent virus that cannot be removed.

Your hard drive stores the operating system, your files, settings, etc. The computer can't operate by itself only with a hard drive. You have to have a processor, memory, and other vital components to make your hard drive and computer work. I hope this helps!
