A gang is a group with bad intentions. A clique is more like a friend group

Answer:

Cliques are simply tightly knit groups of friends who don't let others in very often. Gangs on the other hand, often participate in illegal activity and may get into fights with other gangs. While neither is good, as least cliques aren't going to try and kill other cliques.
