Jim was thinking of a number. Jim divides by 8, then adds 9 to get an answer of 6. What was the original number?

To find the answer, you must go back and do the opposite. You know the final result was 6. Now, you must do the opposite of what it said. It said it added 9, so you have to minus nine. (6-9=-3) Then, it said it divided the number by 8, so you have to multiply by 8. (-3x8=-24) The origins number was -24.
