a car company reduced the amount of cars produced from 500000 to 420000. what is the percent decrease in the amount of car produced?

Decrease = 500000 - 420000 = 80000
Percent decrease = 80000 / 500000 x 100% = 16%

Use of word “amount” is irritating as in English this only used for measurements.
“Number” of cars would be better grammar.
