Lucas is more like an unevolved thugoid - Is this a metaphor or simile? and can u explain them. What makes it effective?

This is an example of a simile. Similes make a description (enhances imagery to readers) by comparing one thing to another using “like” or “as”. Metaphors do not use “like” or “as”. For example, “That girl is a walking Encyclopedia!”
