a diver needs to descend to a depth of 3/8 of a mile. she wants to do it in 1/4 mile increments. how far did she travel in each descent?

The first increment was a full 1/4th of a mile, the second would be 1/8th , reason for is that it’s a subtraction equation, 1/4 equates to 2/8, so after the diver does the first increment there’s just 1/8th of a mile to go.
