For the answer to the question above asking to describe the transformations (from the parent function) of this exponential function: y=3(2^x-1)+1

I think
 "(2 IS THE POWER OF X-1 NOT JUST X)"

Then why didn't you just write in in parenthesis, like Y=3(2^(X-1))+1 or Y=3 * 2^(X-1)+1?

The successive transformations are:
x --> -1 --> 2^ --> *3 --> +1
