The oxygenated blood has the oxygen in it which is vital for staying alive. Chemical reactions happen in your body and they use up oxygen and produce a waste product which is carbon dioxide. Taking in the carbon dioxide would be toxic for our body and so it needs to get out. The heart does that job.
