What happens when body cells are placed in a hypertonic solution?

In a hypertonic solution, your body cells will shrivel up as osmosis occurs in an attempt to dilute the solute outside of the cell's membrane. Which leads to most of the H20 from within your body cells to diffuse outside, leaving a shrivelled up cell.
