Let the number of waffles she baked be x.
Since she baked 1.5 times as many pancakes as waffles. Then;
Number of pancakes = 1.5x
She baked 45 more waffles.
Thus;
Total = 1.5x and (x + 45)
Her children ate 12 pancakes.
Thus, amount left is now;
(1.5x - 12) and (x + 45)
We are told that there were now 17 more waffles than pancakes.
Thus;
(x + 45) - (1.5x - 12) = 17
x + 45 - 1.5x + 12 = 17
0.5x = 50
x = 50/0.5
x = 100
Thus,there were 100 waffles initially.
