Explain why subtracting a positive number is the same as adding its inverse.​

Subtracting a positive number is like adding it’s negative, as on a number line, it moves left.

This is best explained by an example:

8 - 3 = 5

This is the same as: 8 + (-3) = 5.

A positive and a negative equates to a negative and so forth. :)
