"Fifty-Four Forty or Fight" was the slogan of expansionists. The democratic party wanted to claim the land in the Oregon country which was north to the 54-50 line or parallel.

 Fifty -Four Forty or Fight was a slogan that was create for an attempt to control the Northwest ( 54,40 ). Removing the United States - Oregon from the British or fight to get it.
